Interventions

Following traumatic events in the workplace we often observe a range of acute stress reactions in employees and managers, these reactions are overwhelming and they temporarily affect individual and organizational functioning.

Among these situations that involve a coworker or are somehow related to life in the workplace, we encounter events such as:

  • Sudden death
  • Death following a period of illness
  • Suicide
  • Severe injuries

These reactions can also be triggered by being a victim or witnessing a violent event either by natural or manmade causes:

  • Physical aggression
  • Armed robbery
  • Hostage situations
  • Earthquakes and other natural disasters

My intervention has the following objectives:

  • Educating staff on likely emotional, cognitive and physical reactions, present and to come
  • Provide psychological support to individuals and groups of employees
  • Propose practical coping strategies
  • Present variables that explain individual differences in reactions
  • Conduct risk assessment when necessary
  • Coaching managers throughout the intervention and the return to normal functioning period
  • Provide support and recommendations to managers during and following the intervention
  • Respect dignity, confidentiality, and objectivity for all employees and parties involved
