Haiti’s 2010 Earthquake

Ghaïst assisted workers and administrators of an international major non-profit organization (NGO) composed of native and expatriate employees following the 2010 earthquake which claimed over 300,000 human casualties.  He also collaborated with the local public health.

He provided psychological support to employees, affected family members and managers. Coping strategies and anxiety-reducing models were proposed.

He also presented multiple lectures regarding the psychological, emotional and physical symptoms resulting from: experiencing the earthquake, from having lost family and friends, and from suffering post-traumatic stress dissorder (PTSD). Common psychological and practical day-to-day challenges following this crisis were presented, defined, explained and solutions were proposed. The material was delivered in French and in Creole language.

Ghaïst established several psychological treatment plans and made specific recommendations for employees victim of kidnaping and physical mistreatment that had become common during this crisis.

Finally he contributed to the planning of the psychological support strategies and services in collaboration to government public health initiative.
